Ibanez × Dragon Ball Z: guitars worthy of a Super Saiyan

Ibanez announces official Dragon Ball Z guitars, bass and accessories for 2027, including an eye-catching orange RG. We explore the tools, production choices and practical implications behind this announcement, with a focus on what matters in a real studio.

A collaboration spanning generations of guitarists

Ibanez has announced an official Dragon Ball Z collection for 2027, combining instruments and accessories with the visual world of a much-loved series. These pieces appeal to players who grew up with the characters as well as collectors. The strongest designs are those that remain credible musical instruments rather than mere memorabilia.

The orange RG is our favourite

The vivid orange RG is the model that catches our eye most immediately. Its colouring makes the reference unmistakable while retaining the familiar proportions of an Ibanez electric guitar. For a studio guitarist, the real questions will still be playability, pickup response and how convincingly it works in a musical production.

Other models, from stage to collection

The announced range extends beyond a single guitar to include further variations, a bass, a ukulele, effects and accessories. That variety makes the collaboration appealing to different audiences. Collectors may be drawn to the graphics, whereas musicians will want to understand the practical specification and available formats.

Our opinion

This is a playful and visually confident collaboration. The guitars look appealing, but a final judgement on tone and construction requires hands-on experience. As always, a strong identity can be a bonus; it should not substitute for the pleasure of playing a good instrument.
